When the going gets tough…

The tough call a friend!

Last week I wrote about sharing burdens and handing them over to God. This week I’m sharing about the blessings of friendship, as well as being a blessing myself.

A little saying I know says: “A burden shared is a burden halved.”

Trials, burdens, and heartaches happen in life. But, with the arm of a friend, a hot cuppa and listening ear they are more manageable.

Friends share the burden…

Ecclesiastes 4:10 (NIV1984)

If one falls down, his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!

Friends encourage…

Psalm 43:5 (NIV1984)

Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.

Friends remind us of who is in control…

Isaiah 55:8 (NIV1984)

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.

Friends love…

1 John 4:11

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Sometimes the love a friend shows can help remind us of God’s love. That all is well—despite what is going on.

Proverbs 14:20
The poor are shunned even by their neighbors, but the rich have many friends.

I love my friends. I count myself blessed and very rich! They are as exquisite and yet contrasting as blocks of fabric, making up a beautiful quilt that comforts and protects me from the hardest of life’s bumps and bruises.

I pray I may be as encouraging, supportive and loving as others have been to me.

How about you? Do you have a story of how friendship has changed your life, or made some of the bumps of life more bearable?

Any tips on being a good friend?

P.S. I forgot to mention that today I wrote my first book review over on:

the book, “Homegrown Dandelions” by Judith Bronte that I reviewed is free, so feel free to check it out! 🙂
